Surviving to Thriving: Key Pillars of Workplace Success
Thriving at work is strongly associated with higher job satisfaction, improved performance, decreased stress and burnout, and an increased ability to problem solve and effectively respond to challenges. Not surprisingly, these positive impacts lead to lower absenteeism, presenteeism, disability and turnover-related costs for workplaces. Although it’s clear that focusing on thriving at work impacts the bottom line, the traditional approach to workplace wellbeing has, up until recent years, focused largely on preventing problems and investing in programs such as employee assistance, return to work, and fitness programmes. With such valuable and critical benefits of thriving at work, it is time to shift to a more positive approach to promoting wellbeing in the workplace.
Mae’s talk integrates elements of positive psychology to promote a thriving, flourishing workplace, and discusses what both employees and employers can do to foster a culture of wellness, engagement, and purpose at work. Through active participation, attendees will learn how they can begin to thrive at work through the development of personal resources and resiliency such as perspective taking, self-compassion, and adopting a growth mindset, which allows individuals to better manage their wellbeing and cope with various workplace demands and stressors.
Attendees will also learn strategies to individually and collectively contribute to a thriving workplace culture, including building positive relationships at work, understanding and applying our individual strengths, and more.
After this talk, attendees will be able to…
Understand the value of thriving at work for both employee well-being and business outcomes
Acquire specific strategies to actively thrive at work and build personal resources
Acquire actionable strategies to contribute to a positive and thriving workplace environment
